The beautiful historic city of Venice is one of my favourite travel places in Europe. It is situated on the River Arno and it takes around two hours to get to Venice from Milan. The whole city is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and it is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Italy. One of the best parts of Venice is the beautiful canals, which link the city to the surrounding area. There are also boat trips to take you down to the local ports of Saint Sauvant and Genoa.
One of the most popular tourist attractions in Venice is the Piazza San Marco. This is the place where the Emperor used to walk from one gate to another back in the medieval era. Today, you can take a train ride right past the Emperor’s statue and down towards the main square. If you are a fan of art, then you will love seeing all of the beautiful paintings that can be found all across the Old Town. One of the most famous artists, Sandro Botticelli was born here and this is where he produced some of his most beautiful pieces of artwork.
Another great place in southern Italy is the city of Napoli. Napoli is a city of elegance and it sits just on the tip of the boot of the Italian Poppy, the island of Poppies. There are over sixty different species of wild flowers in this amazing seaside resort and it is considered to be one of the most ecologically diverse locations in Europe. Napoli is also home to one of the most beautiful cathedrals in the world, Santa Maria Novella.
One of the most famous cities in all of Italy, Rome is located on the River Arno. One of the most famous monuments in Rome is the Coliseum, which was built during the first century AD and it is open to the public each day. One of the most spectacular experiences in Rome is visiting the Colliseum, which is open to the public from May to October. The colors of the arena can sometimes be difficult to appreciate if you do not have an advanced knowledge of Roman architecture.
Florence is another beautiful Italian city and is well-known for being a center for art and literature. This beautiful town sits on the foot of the Roman hill of Pincio and has been a home to many famous authors, like Dante Alighieri. Florence is also a very famous tourist town, as it has many beautiful buildings that were constructed during the Renaissance. One of the most famous buildings in Florence is the Duomo, which is the main church in the town of Florence and is often referred to as “The Second Vatican.”
The lake Bohinj is one of the largest lakes in all of Central Italy and is perfect for boating and picnicking. The first town you should visit on your trip to Bohinj is Sirmione, which is the capital of the old city of Sirmione. The most beautiful buildings in town are located in Olde Town and parts of the piazza del Popolo. If you enjoy eating authentic Italian food, then you will definitely love dining at La Strada restaurant, which is located in the heart of Bohinj.
Another great place to eat while in town is at the famous Fish Funnel, which is found in the heart of the city of Sirmione. The secluded atmosphere of Fish Funnel is ideal for enjoying a peaceful meal while watching the boaters play soccer on the lake. If you enjoy trying new foods, then you will love dining at La Strada Restaurant, which is located inside the Fish Funnel.
If you are looking for one day stopover, then you should definitely consider stopping by the town of Alberobello. The unspoiled nature of this small town makes it one of the must visit places for both locals and international tourists. There are several great restaurants in town as well as a world heritage site. The truffle of the town is covered with hundreds of tiny puffed white powdery sandalwood, which is known as “Albero’s Truffles.”
